New Philosophy in Kids Bikes

So according to my buddy Jon training wheels are bad for kids learning to ride a bike because they don't learn how to balance and it makes it harder once the training wheels come off. He got this wooden bike sans pedals at Target. The only complaint is a frequently loose headset which is just a long screw. Another way would be to buy a 12" bike and just take the cranks off. Wooden bikes are cool, but not as cool as a Calfee bamboo bike. Pictured is Nolan doing big pimpin on BLA Dees. (He's got the 12's not the 24's.)

makes sense and I'll have to remember that for the soon to come son. plan is to get him riding before he is walking.

Riding before he's walking? Wow. That's like getting your kid to read before he can talk. Good luck!!

good point. might have to make some type of stomach bike. yeah, we got our work cut out for us.

i learned this trick from a buddy who's a pretty damn good carpenter. tell your friend to remove the screw from the headset and stick a tooth pick or two in the hole. reinsert the scew. does the handle bars actually turn? that'd probably cause it to always loosen.

Makes sense to me. You've got a golden opportunity to try it out.

Specialized now makes a Hot Walk, its a 12" bike (ala Hot Rock) sans BB, cranks, etc... Yup.
